Benefits of Chamber Membership
Referrals - The Chamber refers to member businesses and organizations for the request received daily by mail, telephone, email, fax, and walk-in traffic. Chamber members are also referred through the website and membership directory/buyers guide.Lodging members receive free weekly inquiry/lead lists.
Networking Opportunities - The Chamber provides you with numerous opportunities to network with other business/organization leaders at Chamber sponsored functions. You can increase your business contacts, provide exposure for your business, raise your profile and exchange ideas. Events such as Business Expo, Chamber Presents, Annual Banquet, Good Morning D. L., and others will provide those quality networking opportunities.
Marketing Opportunities - The Chamber provides many opportunities for its members to maximize exposure, and at the same time, provide image enhancement, heightened credibility, and business recognition. The Chamber Ambassadors make courtesy calls to new businesses, business expansions, business relocations, grand openings, ground breakings, and new owners. These calls are featured in the Chamber newsletter. The member decal provides identification for the leading area member businesses. All Chamber members are listed in the business directory of www.visitdetroitlakes.com, and printed membership directory and buyers guide. All Chamber members have the opportunity for a free hot link to their own website. Members can display their brochures and business cards at the Chamber office at no charge. "Good news" items for members are featured in the Chamber newsletter "Member News" section.

Advertising Opportunities: In addition to our free membership directory/buyers guide listing, free website business directory listing, and other free Chamber publication lists, members have advertising opportunities in publications such as the Detroit Lakes Visitor & Relocation Guide; Chamber Newsletter; Membership Directory/Buyers Guide; Visitor Coupon Book; and the winter trails map. Other advertising opportunities include: enhanced website listing; website hot deal coupons; business expo booth; and event sponsorships.
Member Programs/Services: The Chamber provides the following programs and services to members:
- Mailing labels - a value priced list for customizing your direct marketing needs.
- Bulk mailing privileges - the Chamber allows members free use of our bulk mail permit for pre-printed items.
- Conference Room - members can host meetings for 12-15 people at the Chamber's conference room at no charge.
- Chamber Bucks - encourage local shopping for merchandise and services in the Detroit Lakes area. They can be used to reward employees, friends, and relatives, for employee incentives, holiday gifts, promotional prizes, special event drawings, and more.
- Free Notary Public Service to members
- Certificates of Origin - available to members at no charge.
- Seminars/Workshops - held frequently to train and educate member employees and management.
- Chamber Alert - This system alerts members of checks written on closed accounts, stolen or forged checks or credit cards, counterfeit bills and other business alerts.
Committee/Event Involvement & Development - The volunteers and staff of the Chamber have vast experience in organizing events and can be a great source of knowledge. Volunteers make a difference by joining a committee or event, sharing their ideas, and letting their voice be heard, thus "make it happen" in the Lakes Area. Public Policy - The Chamber, through its Legislative Affairs Committee, educates and informs Chamber members about local, state and federal public policy issues. They host and sponsor legislator forums, meet the candidate's forums and legislative issues conference calls. They participate in Business Day at the Capitol, and conduct legislative issue surveys.
