WE Fest is one of the largest outdoor country music and camping festivals in the nation and it's held in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota! The 2015 lineup includes Miranda Lambert, Jake Owen, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Hank Williams Jr, Big & Rich and many more. Learn more about the event at the WE Fest web site.
WE Fest offices are located on the scenic Soo Pass Ranch, which also contains a natural amphitheater that accommodates up to 50,000 people, including 7,000 reserved seats, and 10 separate campgrounds with a total camping capacity of 35,000 people.
To reduce your driving time to WE Fest, please consider a route that will reduce congestion along Highway 10 East in Detroit Lakes from the airport to the Highway 59 intersection in Detroit Lakes. Due to highway construction this summer, lanes are reduced to 2-way traffic on Hwy 10 from the airport to the overpass intersection with Hwy 59 and the beginning of Hwy 59 South for a quarter mile. If you are driving a big rig, be aware that the driving lanes at the beginning of Hwy 59 South are narrow. If coming from the west to Detroit Lakes, consider taking a route south from Hwy 10 and then east to WE Fest, or I-94 from Fargo to Hwy 59 North from Fergus Falls. Some options from Hwy 10 are turning off Hwy 10 east of Glyndon on Hwy 9, then east on Hwy 34 to north on Hwy 59. Or, east of Hawley on Hwy 10, turn south on Hwy 32, then east on Hwy 34 and north on Hwy 59. Check the routes ahead of time to determine what will work for the vehicle you are driving.
The easiest way to get to the Detroit Lakes beach while at WE Fest is to take the shuttle bus. If driving your vehicle from WE Fest on Hwy 59 to the beach, consider taking Willow Street from the Roundabout. You may either follow Willow Street to Washington Avenue and go south to the beach or turn right off Willow Street at Rossman Avenue and park a block from the beach at the Fairgrounds.
As in previous years, there are no left turns allowed off West Lake Drive (by the beach) onto the Avenues. There are also no left turns allowed at Willow Street and Washington Avenue.
If driving from WE Fest on Hwy 59 to Walmart and neighboring businesses, consider turning east from the Roundabout to Long Lake Road to Long View Drive to Airport Road.
Plan your trips ahead of time to avoid traffic congestion. Call the Chamber office at 218.847.9202 if you need additional information.
