Business Relocation to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota

I would like to welcome you to the City of Detroit Lakes and all of the things that this community has to offer. For over 125 years, people have chosen the 412 lakes area of Detroit Lakes to vacation and to visit. One of our businesses that started in the 1970's said "I decided to locate my business where I wanted to vacation." So why don't you? If you are deciding to locate or relocate a business, locate that business in an area where people want to live. Detroit Lakes has many opportunities.

Over the last ten years, we have added on to our industrial park and created well over 1000 jobs in that park. In addition, our tourism businesses with motels and hotels and our retail businesses have grown dramatically over the last fifteen years. We still have an available workforce in Detroit Lakes and a Technical College that is willing to train people for work in this area.

Last year the City Council approved over 20 housing subdivisions. At least two of those subdivisions included low and moderate income housing for people in our area. We consider adequate housing as one of the keys to maintaining a sizable, stable workforce for our area. Along with our many lakes and forests and recreational opportunities, we also have recently completed a 105,000 sq. ft. Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center. We have adequate opportunities for both swimming and physical activities, including two gyms, plus an 800 seat theater for cultural events.

In the summer time, we have numerous lakes, parks, golf courses, softball diamonds, soccer fields... and a one-mile city beach!

Check out Detroit Lakes. Locate your business where you'd like to vacation!
