Your Chamber is Making it Happen!

Participation is the Key to Chamber Success

You are invited to be a part of the ACTION by getting involved in your Chamber of Commerce.
It takes hundreds of volunteers working on many different boards, committees, and task forces to complete the ambitious business plan of your Chamber. Members who are involved make great connections too.

:45 Fill-up: The monthly membership meeting for the DL Chamber. All members and their employees are encouraged to attend this meeting to get updates on your Chamber, what is new in the community and how we can all work together to improve business here at the Lakes. 2nd Wednesday of each month 8:15-9:00am.

Agri-Business: The Agri-Business Committee maintains a liaison with agri-business organizations, lends support in developing programs that assist the growth of the agri-business industry in our area.  Meets as needed, 1st Tuesday, 8:00 am. Chair – Ken Shroyer

Ambassadors: The Chamber Ambassadors extend a welcoming hand recognizing new businesses, expansions, new locations and new ownership.  They make business visits on the 1st Wednesday of each month that are featured in the Chamber newsletter. Also help with ribbon cuttings and ground breakings. Chair – Jessica Burhans

Arts & Crafts in the Park: This task force plans and coordinates this annual event held in the DL City Park each July. Meets as needed.

Board of Directors: The governing board of the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce. If you are interested in serving please contact Carrie Johnston

Festival of Birds: This committee plans, coordinates and oversees this event which brings birders from all across the United States to experience our unique birding corridor where the prairie meets both hardwood and coniferous forests.  Meets as needed.  

4th of July Fireworks: This task force plans, raises funds for, and produces the annual 4th of July Fireworks display held annually on Detroit Lake. Chairs - Mark Fritz & Mike Hutchinson, Lakeshirts, 

Leadership Detroit Lakes:  A Community Leadership program designed to further develop effective leadership skills for workplaces in the Detroit Lakes Area. This 8 month learning opportunity for upcoming leaders is a great way to gain skills. Participants, mentors, sponsors and committee members needed.

Promotions & Events: This committee develops and coordinates community retail promotions and events that enhance and create an awareness of the Detroit Lakes area as the region’s shopping hub for goods and services. Crazy Daze, Welcome Back Teachers, Light up the Lakes and Button Days are just of few of their local promotions. Meets 2nd Tuesdays, 8:30 a.m.

Tourism: The Tourism Committee develops and actively promotes the Detroit Lakes Region as a year-round tourism destination.  Activities include, Resort Cracker Barrel and a Landowner Appreciation Dinner. Meets 1st Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. (no summer meetings) Chair – Gary “Seal” Thompson, Tri-state Diving

Task Forces: Economic Development Summit, Tour of Manufacturing, Health Career Fest, Workforce Initiative and more are Chamber events run by task forces. Contact Carrie Johnston, 218.847.9202 

­­­­WE Fest Shuttle/Information Booth: This task force recruits & schedules volunteers to man the shuttle bus ticket sales and information booths. Volunteers receive WE Fest passes, shuttle tickets and t-shirt. Meets as needed. Chair – Dawn Olson, Washington Square Mall
