Fishing Report
Find out where fish are biting and bait to use in the area fishing report each week. Get Hooked in Detroit Lakes will give you an inside look from fishing guides on which area lakes are best bets for the fish you’re out to catch and the bonus experiences of being out on the water.
This is the area fishing report for Tuesday, October 14, 2025, sponsored by the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce.

With the seasonable weather finally rolling in, reality will be hitting us soon. It was a good stretch though! I will be putting my boat into storage next week, unless someone buys it off me first–contact me at the number below if you’re in the market for a boat! 🙂 While you shouldn’t count out mid-lake structure completely, fish can be found back where they started the open water season–near shore. Fish “first” breaklines, closest to shore, and you should be able to find what you’re looking for. Jigs and rigs (including slip bobbers) tipped with medium to large minnows are the go-to presentations for walleye, pike and bass the remainder of the season. If you’re chasing muskies, now is the time to troll those monster sucker minnows behind the boat. You can find them at County 6 and Witt’s, currently. Good luck to all of you still fishing. Docks are coming out, so pack your waders!
