The heat dome bite continues and–as the kids say–it is FIRE!! 🔥🔥 The crappie bite has been notable lately, and people are boating slabs if they know how to take advantage. The fish won’t hook themselves, so it’s up to you to use the proper gear and use your stick wisely. Getting “the nibs” as we call them on my boat? (Bites, or missed opportunities.) Don’t stand there doing the same thing. Einstein called that insanity and we anglers are crazy enough already! Use light line (no heavier than 6 lb, or 4 lb mono for crappies) and a light or medium-light fast action pole. Keep your pole tip high and “give the fish some line” if trolling, or let it drop more if shore fishing. Don’t open your bail, just move your rod tip toward the fish. Still no luck? Move on–you’re dealing with dinks. Also consider a Northland “stingr” hook with a fireball jig (look it up). Good luck out there!
